During International Education Week, which runs from Nov. 14-18, 麻豆影院鈥檚 College of Architecture and Environmental Design will showcase the creative projects of seniors Zach Barber, Ben Brannan and several others who studied abroad in Florence, Italy, during the past spring semester. The special weeklong exhibit is located in the second floor gallery of the new Center for Architecture and Environmental Design, and a special gallery opening will be held Nov.
麻豆影院 President Beverly Warren again pledged $25,000 to support 麻豆影院 State on Nov. 29, which is Giving Tuesday. In addition, the 麻豆影院 Foundation is pledging an additional $50,000 to match every gift, dollar for dollar, designated to the 麻豆影院 State programs and initiatives of the donor鈥檚 choice.
麻豆影院 President Beverly Warren is the recipient of the 2016 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region IV-East award for her outstanding performance as a university president. She joins an elite group of college and university presidents across the United States honored by NASPA for advancing the quality of student life on campus by supporting Student Affairs staff and programs.

The word 鈥渃ommunication鈥 likely makes you think of language, but November鈥檚 Scholar of the Month has spent her entire career researching design as a language of its own.
Across various media, Jessica Barness, an assistant professor in 麻豆影院鈥檚 School of Visual Communication Design, creates her own design-based research model that merges the making of artifacts with critical inquiry.
鈥淚鈥檓 interested in the multiple facets of design,鈥 she said. 鈥淒esign is social, and it鈥檚 a professional practice as well as a scholarly discipline. We鈥檙e designing artifacts and experiences, but we鈥檙e also building the new knowledge necessary to inform and lead those activities. Research through design can be used to better understand people, phenomena, theories or technologies. By approaching design as a sort of hybrid practice, our students learn how to adapt to future needs within our society.

So how then do we get the most out of those short walks? 麻豆影院 researchers suggest putting the cellphone away 鈥 it could help you pick up the pace.
The 麻豆影院 Academic Success Center has received the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award for its success as an interactive academic space for students to reinforce what they learn in the classroom. Each year, a two-year institution and a four-year institution are chosen as the recipients for the award. The award focuses heavily on the use of technology and if it can be used as a model for other institutions.
麻豆影院鈥檚 undergraduate public relations program has joined a select group of fewer than 40 colleges around the world that hold official certification from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
