Haithem Zourrig, assistant professor in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at �鶹ӰԺ at Stark, has received a Best Paper Award in the “Global and Cross-Cultural Marketing” track, from the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators (ACME) during its conference on March 7-10, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The paper is titled “Changes in Refugees’ Consumption Patterns and Well-Being: A Theoretical Framework and Implications for Service Providers."

Robin Vande Zande, School of Art, received three National Art Education Awards from the National Art Education Association (NAEA) for outstanding achievement in the field of art and design education.

Trevor Watkins, University Libraries, presented “The Industrial Robot and Software Development Lifecycle: A Framework for Designing, Building, and Programming for Industrial Robot Integration” during Saudi Arabia’s Alfaisal University's College of Engineering Webinar Series on March 13, 2018.

David Kaplan, Ph.D., Department of Geography, was elected vice president of the American Association of Geographers for 2018-2019. Dr. Kaplan, an American Geographical Society (AGS) councilor and editor of the society’s flagship Geographical Review journal, will automatically be elected as president for the 2019-2020 term, which will be followed by another term as past president in 2020-2021. He will succeed Dr. Sheryl Luzzadder-Beach of the University of Texas-Austin.

Veronica Cook-Euell, supplier diversity manager, is the recipient of the National Association of Educational Procurement, (NAEP) Professional Perspective Award. This award is given to the author(s) who contributed the highest-rated and most well-received article from the past year’s issues of the Educational Procurement Journal. Ms. Cook-Euell’s winning article “10 Steps to Successful Advocacy in Supplier Diversity” was featured in the .

Richard (Rick) Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, chaired and moderated a session on "ASAO Histories" at the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Feb. 1, 2018.

Kenneth Cushner, professor emeritus, School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies, served as intercultural specialist for the fall 2017 voyage around the world, “Semester at Sea.” He visited 10 countries (Germany, Spain, Ghana, South Africa, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Japan and USA) on four continents over four months.

Richard (Rick) Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, and Gina Zavota, Department of Philosophy, presented “Behaviorist Ethics in Polynesia” at the American Anthropological Association annual meeting in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 1, 2017.

Richard (Rick) Feinberg, Department of Anthropology, participated in a series of leadership meetings of the American Anthropological Association, the world's largest society of anthropologists from Nov. 28-Dec. 3, 2017, in Washington, D.C. These included meetings of the AAA Executive Board and the Association Operations Committee. Dr. Feinberg chaired meetings of the AAA's Section Assembly and Section Assembly Executive Committee as well as one academic session.
