Summer 2024
Message from the Dean
Dear Friends,
As the summer is often a season of reflection and rejuvenation, I hope you are spending some time recharging and reconnecting with loved ones. There are many exciting things happening around the College of Public Health (CPH). Thanks to a generous grant from Medical Mutual, the College is conducting a three-faceted project on senior health that includes a community needs assessment, continuing education for senior centers’ staff, and screening services and education for older adults through the Mobile Flashes interprofessional teams.
I am also proud to announce some thrilling news about our academic programs. First, is the launch of the newly established STEM-designated Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology and M.P.H. in Biostatistics. Beginning this Fall semester, the two new degrees will replace the old concentrations, and thanks to the STEM designation they will additionally enhance the value of our MPH program, providing students elevated knowledge and extended training time.
Second, the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Compliance has been accredited by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)®. Students who successfully complete the 100 percent online certificate will now be eligible to sit for the CCB’s basic healthcare exams, giving them a valuable opportunity to advance their career.
I want to personally thank all the faculty, staff, and community members that tirelessly work every day to ensure our students have the highest level of education, while contributing to the College’s success and building healthier communities. Your dedication is inspiring.
Yours in good health,
Sonia Alemagno
Dean, College of Public Health
