1. MULTI-FACETED EXCELLENCE - Students are the benchmark as a metric for success.

3. FACULTY EXCELLENCE - Celebrating faculty successes promotes the School’s mission and vision.
4. CULTURAL EXCELLENCE - This brings about national and international awareness of the School’s programs.
5. PROGRAMMATIC EXCELLENCE - Expanding resources provides more opportunities for high student achievement.
Implementation Plans | First Year Strategies (2017 – 2018)
1. Multi-Faceted Excellence
a. Define extra-curricular opportunities beyond the classroom that will prepare students for a career in the arts.
b. Conduct surveys from students as a follow-through to understand their experiences and make informed decisions based on student feedback.
c. Increase opportunities through coursework that allow for interdisciplinary work.
2. Curricular Excellence
a. Review School of Art curricula in addition to university curricula to provide the best education to students.
b. Make effective use of the ARTech Studio with appropriate staffing to increase student opportunities for meaningful innovative and collaborative experiences.
c. Promote and include interdisciplinary partnerships as deemed priority across units.
3. Faculty Excellence
a. Pursue civic engagement opportunities where appropriate for the School’s success.
b. Take steps to expand local and regional resources to gain publicity.
c. Celebrate faculty successes for scholarly and creative work to raise the prestige of the University.
4. Cultural Excellence
a. Create activities that enhance the classroom experience through community engagement.
b. Expand opportunities that engage the community by broadening the scope of cultural/artistic awareness.
c. Broaden the study abroad programs and courses that lead to innovative exchanges of ideas.
5. Programmatic Excellence
a. Development of strategies to increase enrollment across all areas of the School.
b. Develop intentional marketing and promotional methods to advance the School.
c. Review all budget information to determine the best needs of the School, thereby reducing unnecessary spending.
d. Implement plans to reduce low enrolled courses and reconsider teaching needs.
e. Look at state, federal, and corporate opportunities for collaborative grants to assist multi-dimensional needs.
Implementation Plans | Second & Third Year Strategies (2018 – 2019; 2019 – 2020)
1. Multi-Faceted Excellence
a. Create a calendar of activities that students can choose to participate in, as a means to advance their creative work and gain additional professional experience.
b. Determine what opportunities are needed and what is working within the curriculum and implement changes.
c. Create coursework that allow for interdisciplinary work.
2. Curricular Excellence
a. Update curricula to align with the University mission to provide the best education to students.
b. Create and implement courses that utilize the ARTech Studio, including the hiring of appropriate staff for the Studio.
c. Develop lasting interdisciplinary partnerships across campus.
3. Faculty Excellence
a. Develop and market activities that engage the School with the community at-large to expand education.
b. Focus on School-wide plan to promote faculty and educational opportunities.
c. Develop opportunities for faculty to flourish in professional development and recognize them.
4. Cultural Excellence
a. Work with the University to establish support for projects through community engagement.
b. Create courses/workshops that engage the community.
c. Increase opportunities for study abroad and exchange programs that focus on a cultural exchange of ideas.
5. Programmatic Excellence
a. Development of realistic enrollment grown to meet strategic needs of the School.
b. Hone recruiting, marketing and promotional strategies to advance the School.
c. Set goals for a break-even or better level of financial sustainability.
d. Redefine curricula to offer the most necessary courses in all disciplines, while cutting out low-enrolled sections using the 5-10-15 rule.
e. Encourage collaborative grant-writing to assist multi-dimensional needs across the School of Art and beyond, where appropriate.
Implementation Plans | Fourth & Fifth Year Strategies (2020 – 2021; 2021 - 2022)
1. Multi-Faceted Excellence
a. Require career-related, learning-based activities that support students’ career/professional choices.
b. Implement activities that prepare students for advanced study or professional engagement.
c. Identify and implement opportunities that better prepare students in their chosen field(s) of study.
2. Curricular Excellence
a. Encourage flexibility within concentrations to meet the changing needs of the students and the ever-evolving society to which they will contribute.
b. Expand use of the ARTech Studio and its faculty to increase awareness of innovative and collaborative experiences in the 21st century.
c. Maintain interdisciplinary partnerships as deemed priority across units to advance each area’s strategic interests.
3. Faculty Excellence
a. Reconsider workloads to allow faculty to engage in communities outside of the University.
b. Encourage activities in which the faculty engage beyond the campus to highlight their strengths.
c. Incentivize faculty achievements for scholarly and creative work to raise the prestige of the School & University.
4. Cultural Excellence
a. Require scholarly/creative activities that allows for civic engagement and cultural experience.
b. Broadly promote and recruit for courses/workshops that can engage citizens beyond the campus.
c. Market study abroad programs and courses so that they can become sustainable, while offering a broad cultural experience.
5. Programmatic Excellence
a. Align enrollment goals to the overall educational values and needs of the School.
b. Identify individuals who have strengths to assist with recruiting and marketing to advance the School for its academics and studio work.
c. Implement plan for increasing efficiencies, such as resource allocation, load assignments, and financial savings.
d. Establish curricula that allows for flexibility, but also eliminates low-enrolled courses to better utilize faculty time.
e. Implement strategic planning for grant-writing and seeking funds to assist with the School’s current resources.
