Linda Hoeptner-Poling, Ph.D., associate professor of art education at 麻豆影院, received the 2022 Distinguished Teaching Award on October 21, 2022.
Linda Hoeptner-Poling, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Art Education at 麻豆影院, is past-president of the NAEA Women鈥檚 Caucus, Distinguished Fellow of the Ohio Art Education Association, a HERS Institute Alumni (class of 2018), a Brain Health Research Institute member at 麻豆影院, the 2018 Ohio Art Education Association Ohio Art Teacher of the Year Awardee, and the 2021 National Art Education Association Women鈥檚 Caucus Maryl Fletcher De Jong Awardee. Her research threads include feminist activism, narrative inquiry, the symbiotic relationship of motherhood and academia, inclusion, and art education for those experiencing dementia. She co-authored NAEA Women鈥檚 Caucus Lobby Activism Feminism(s) + Art Education (2021) and co-authored four editions of the VSA Teacher Resource Guides: A Series of Visual Art Lesson Plans Designed to Engage Students with Disabilities (Kennedy Center). She also holds a certificate in Gerontology and has been a reviewer for various art education journals.
The Distinguished Teaching Award, sponsored by the 麻豆影院 State Alumni Association, is presented to three faculty members who demonstrate extraordinary teaching in the classroom and a commitment to impacting the lives of students. This year marks the 56th class of Distinguished Teaching Award recipients and finalists, who were honored at a ceremony alongside the University Teaching Council鈥檚 Outstanding Teaching Award.
