Â鶹ӰԺ State nursing student Christina Hansen hopes to begin her career in Northeast Ohio

Â鶹ӰԺ nursing major Christina Hansen grew up just outside of Cleveland in Mentor, Ohio, so the idea of remaining in northeast Ohio after graduation has always appealed to her.

The Student Nurses Association is putting its best foot forward, hoping to promote healthy lifestyles in the Mahoning Valley with the new program at the Niles Wellness Center, which encourages members to talk and ask questions about health and activity.

Sydney Bihn is on track to be the first female graduate of Â鶹ӰԺ’s aerospace engineering program, and now, she has been selected as one of only 38 women to be a Brooke Owens Fellow.

Many people travel for relaxation, some travel for work, but Erica Dovin traveled to help give the gift of hearing to impaired children. Ms. Dovin, a sophomore speech pathology and audiology major, received a rare opportunity to travel to Honduras to provide much needed assistance while gaining valuable experience at the same time.

When Symone Baskerville came from Chicago to Â鶹ӰԺ State to study fashion design, she realized that living so far from home was not nearly as difficult a transition as living in an area with limited choices of fabrics available for to her to use for her class projects. So she changed that by opening Â鶹ӰԺ Fabrics.

City rats are unlikely to be on anyone's list of favorite animals, but researching exactly how they are problematic for public health provided a unique opportunity this past summer for Gracen Gerbig, Â鶹ӰԺ State junior majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology.

Pacifique Niyonzima

Pacifique Niyonzima lost most of his family during the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Now he is earning a graduate degree in higher education administration at Â鶹ӰԺ State so he can give back to his native country.

Nearly 40 students from Â鶹ӰԺ's Tuscarawas, Stark and Â鶹ӰԺ campuses recently participated in Â鶹ӰԺ State’s first site for the Global Game Jam (GGJ), a worldwide game-making event where creators gather at 800-plus sites around the world over a weekend to make games based on a single theme over a 48-hour period.

Quick-thinking, experience and a kind heart describe freshman exploratory major Dylan Elson who took immediate action to help an employee during an apparent medical emergency. He was honored in a surprise ceremony by the Division of Student Affairs and awarded a plaque by Shay Little, Ph.D., vice president of student affairs.
