Ugly Christmas sweaters once signified unwanted holiday gifts from long-forgotten relatives. However, they have come to represent a playful forerunner of the pending holiday season in recent years. To ring in the 2017 holiday season, Main Street �鶹ӰԺ and the Great Lakes Brewing Co. will host the second annual Ugly Sweater Tavern Trek beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, in downtown �鶹ӰԺ.

Smith, director of the �鶹ӰԺ Writing Commons, traveled with Writing Commons’ tutors from a variety of academic disciplines to make presentations at the International Writing Centers Association’s annual conference in Chicago, Illinois, from Nov. 10-13, 2017. This year's conference theme was “Tutor, Writer, Director, Spy.”
