In addition, graduate programs in literacy, educational technology and curriculum studies support in-service educators as they pursue leadership positions within the wider educational community through masterβs and doctoral degrees. TLC faculty are passionate about fostering βnext generationβ educators who are kind, knowledgeable, and committed to their students and their well-being.
Becoming a Brave Teacher
In this three-day workshop (July 31-Aug. 2, 2024), preK-12th grade teachers will develop portraits of their own practice as brave teachers; create individual, context-specific goals; and leave with resources and examples of specific pedagogical approaches of how they can enact brave teaching in their classrooms.
Alternative Licensure Professional Development Institute - ALPDI
The Alternative Licensure Professional Development Institute at ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State serves new teachers who completed the Ohio Department of Education requirements for an Alternative Resident Educator License. These teachers have four years to complete 15-18 credit hours, depending on their area of licensure, from a state-approved professional development institute. The ALPDI program is designed to be completed in 3 semesters or one calendar year, and is 100% online.

Filling the Computer Science Gap
What do cybersecurity, data structures and algorithms all have in common? They are all part of the computer science industry, an industry that Ohio wants to see grow. The Ohio Department of Higher Education hopes to address a teaching gap through a recently announced funding opportunity called Teach CS. ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State was one of the recent awardees, receiving a million-dollar grant to develop KSU TeachCS.
Learning Through Play
Singing, dancing and yoga are not typical college classroom activities. At least not all in one class. But for Jenny Lampe, lecturer in ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊβs Early Childhood Education Program, itβs important for her students to experience the full preschool education with all of these activities, plus expected activities like reading childrenβs books.
