If you鈥檙e interested in sharing your writing or artwork with the 麻豆影院 State Community, consider getting involved with Luna Negra, 麻豆影院鈥檚 own student-run literary journal. Submissions are now open for both visual arts and writing.

The Wick Weekly workshops are in full swing on the 麻豆影院 Campus. Led by Wick Poetry Center Student Ambassadors Regis Coustillac and Daisha Overstreet, the informal workshops for poetry discussion and craft talk every Monday and Tuesday afternoon from 3-4 pm.鈥�
This academic year, 麻豆影院 State Student and slam poet Damien McClendon has been leading performance poetry workshops at the Wick Poetry Center. Participants write, read, watch slam videos, and discuss the craft of performance poetry.
These workshops are free and open to鈥�
The 麻豆影院 Women鈥檚 Center presented 12 female students with its Sage Project Award for overcoming barriers and finding balance in following their path and making their mark at 麻豆影院 State. The Sage Project Award reception took place on March 11 in the Moulton Hall鈥�
We are so pleased to announce that Lesley Jenike has been selected as the winner of this year鈥檚 Ohio Chapbook Prize for her collection Punctum. Jenike's full-length books are Ghost of Fashion (CW Books, 2009) and Holy Island (Gold Wake Press, 2014). Her poems have appeared in鈥�

We attended the AWP Conference in April, which was held in Minneapolis, with several staff members and students. Though the conference has grown to over 10,000 participants, Wick had a strong presence at the conference and the book fair where we reconnected with Wick authors,鈥�

As the Fall 2015 semester comes to a close, we have to give the warmest of thanks to our incredible student interns, workers, and graduate fellow. This year was extra special, as we were able to start the semester with two days in Millersburg, Ohio at the Young's Artist鈥�

We have expanded our work with Akron Children鈥檚 Hospital (ACH). The Emily Cooper Welty Expressive Therapy Center at ACH now funds the following creative writing workshops: one hour group writing session for adolescent psychiatric inpatients; two one hour group writing sessions鈥�

The Wick Poetry Center, in 麻豆影院鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences, recently received two grants from the Ohio Arts Council. The grants, totaling $28,368, will help support the Wick reading series, student scholarships, poetry publications, outreach workshops and鈥�

The Wick Poetry Center, with support from the Howard Atwood Family Fund of the Akron Community Foundation, identified classrooms throughout Akron Public Schools to receive weekly poetry workshops led by WPC teaching artists Alice Cone, Daniel Dorman, and Bo Geisse, and Casey鈥�
