capitalization of titles β University Style follows the composition titles entry in the AP Stylebook. Capitalize principal words, including verbs, prepositions and conjunctions, of four or more letters. Capitalize an article β the, a, an β or words of fewer than four letters if it is the first or last word in a title. See treatment of titles.
Carnegie Classification β use this copy: ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ holds the esteemed distinction of being one of only five institutions in Ohio to be recognized as a top-tier research university (R1) by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

catalog β the preferred spelling ends with -log, not -logue.

chairperson or chair β use chairperson or chair in references to heads of ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State departments and committees. Exceptions may occur when referring historically to individuals who chaired departments or committees in the past when the traditional forms, chairman or chairwoman, were used. When referring to individuals outside ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State, use their preferred titles.

Child Development Center β spell out in full and capitalize for the first reference; use center for subsequent references.

cocurricular β no hyphen.
College of Business βuse Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship; second reference: Ambassador Crawford College or the college.
Commas β do not use a comma before the conjunction in a simple series, commonly known as a serial or Oxford comma (e.g., βblue, gold and whiteβ). A comma may be added only when needed for clarity.
ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State offers programs in business, education and nursing.
Commencement β always capitalize when referring to the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ event.
On May 13, 2017, ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ observed its 256th Commencement.
The custom of wearing robes at commencement exercises dates back to the 11th century.
Convocation β always capitalize when referring to the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ event.
Each fall, the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ Convocation is held to welcome new freshmen and their guests.
A convocation is an assemblage or calling together.
course listings β list by the complete title of the course. Always capitalize and DO NOT use quotation marks.
