βThe Power of Our Voicesβ theme inspired this yearβs May 4 Commemoration events and programming, which focused on tying May 4 and the anti-war movement of 1970 to emerging movements today. The annual commemoration allowed members of the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State community and the public to gather in remembrance of May 4, 1970, share memories, reconnect with old friends and pass the lessons learned from the tragedy to new generations of students so they inquire, learn and reflect upon the history that occurred on their campus.
Along with President Todd Diacon and Provost Melody Tankersley, this yearβs speakers included Avery Hall, president of the May 4 Task Force; Neil Cooper, chair of the May 4 Education Committee and director of the School of Peace and Conflict Studies; Amy Reynolds, dean of the College of Communication and Information; and Roseann βChicβ Canfora, chair of the Presidential Advisory and Commemoration. .
