This stool has been on display in the DI Hub's MuseLab as "Party of One: Future Fungal Furniture." The material it was made from was grown by Britta Bielak, an assistant professor of interior design in 麻豆影院 State's College of Architecture and Environmental Design, with senior interior design students, Joseph Byrer and Olivia Mansier.
Bielak's research explores the potential of the root-like structure of a fungus as a sustainable building material. The exhibit's closing reception and gallery talk is happening April 6 from 6-8 p.m. outside the MuseLab. You can read more about the experiment here.
