Celebrating Women鈥檚 History Month at 麻豆影院 State

This March, 麻豆影院 is celebrating the 2023 Women鈥檚 History Month. The theme for 2023 is 鈥淐elebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.鈥

The Women鈥檚 Center, student organizations and various offices are hosting educational programs for students.

HERstory Trivia Night

Thursday, March 2: HERstory Trivia Night

The Women鈥檚 Center, the LGBTQ+ Center and the Flash Activities Board partner to bring you fun and educational women's history! This will consist of three rounds of fun and educational trivia surrounding women's history. Prizes will be given to the winner of each round. This event will be held at Tahini at The Rathskeller, from 7-8:30 p.m.

Monday, March 6:

Residential estate and early project development with Riley Small is hosted by the Construction Management Student organization. This event will begin at 4 p.m. in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, Room 120.

Monday-Friday, March 6-10: Career Closet Pop-Up

The Career Closet will host a pop-up where students can grab a few pieces of professional clothing to prepare for job and internship interviews. This pop-up will be available March 6-10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on the second floor of the 麻豆影院 Student Center.

Tuesday, March 7: AAUW Salary Negotiation Workshop (Students) 

Learn how to research your target salary, highlight your accomplishments and find the right words 鈥 and find the confidence 鈥 to negotiate for better benefits and pay. This is a free, facilitator-guided workshop. This event will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Williamson Alumni Center Conference Room.

Wednesday, March 8: SPCS International Women鈥檚 Day Program

Gender Equity Across the Globe International Women's Day

The School of Peace and Conflict Studies welcomes Amanda Donahoe speaking on "Reproductive Rights in Post-Brexit Post-Conflict Northern Ireland." This program will be held in McGilvrey Hall, Room 307, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Wednesday, March 8: International Women鈥檚 Day

Explore International Women's Day across the world through a student-created gallery showcase featuring different countries and organizations. This event will be held from 3-5:30 p.m. in the Center for Undergraduate Excellence. 

Wednesday, March 8: Roundtable Discussion of Women鈥檚 History Month

Join the LGBTQ+ Center for a roundtable discussion centering on the topic of Women's History Month. Please contact the LGBTQ+ Center to learn more. This event will be held at the LGBTQ+ Center, 麻豆影院 Student Center, Room 024, from 3-4:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 9: Moko Fukuyama, Two-Video Screening Event

The School of Art hosts Moko Fukuyama, a multidisciplinary artist whose practice entails sculpture, installation, performance and film. Fukuyama will be screening two films. First, 鈥淎 Kind of Pain鈥 in the DI Hub, Room 219, at 1 p.m., will be followed by a 15-minute Q&A by Eli Kessler, assistant professor of sculpture and expanded media. Afterwards, visit the Blank_Lab, DI Hub, Room 144, to see a multichannel projection of 鈥淎merican Recordings Act II: American Frequency in Collaboration With Yo!鈥

Friday, March 10: First Friday Lecture With Multidisciplinary Artist Moko Fukuyama

The School of Art hosts Moko Fukuyama, a multidisciplinary artist whose practice entails sculpture, installation, performance and film. Fukuyama will present the evolution of her work between 2016 and 2022, as well as her current artistic endeavors. Her discussion will center on the outsider-looking-in perspectives that inform her work - as a native of Japan immersed in American culture, Fukuyama's art contends with the boundaries between foreigner and citizen, visitor and resident. The event is co-sponsored by the Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Alliance and the KSU Research Council. The lecture will be at noon in the Center for Visual Arts, Room 165.

Tuesday, March 14: What鈥檚 the Tea?

What's the Tea? Join a virtual community to ask questions, chat and meet new people to discuss current events, relationships, school and life balance, and more. This event will be held from 3-4 p.m.

Go with the Flo Volunteer Event

Tuesday, March 14: Go With the Flo (Volunteer Night)

The Women鈥檚 Center will address period poverty by collecting menstruation supplies and creating kits for local Ohio schools. They will also be decorating the bags in which the materials will go.

Tuesday, March 21: Be You, Be True

Join the Women鈥檚 Center and Center for Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services as they practice self-care by painting, making sugar scrubs and vision boards. Dinner will be provided. This event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Williamson Alumni Center in the Williamson House Conference Room.

Wednesday, March 22: Women in Engineering hosts Womxn in STEM 

This is a collaborative social event to learn more about each group attending. The event will be held at the Women's Center in the Williamson House at 7 p.m.
