While student voting nationwide doubled since 2014, the �鶹ӰԺ student voting rate has increased 135% from 2014 to 2018, according to a recent report from the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, conducted by the Institute for Democracy & Higher Education at Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life.

From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, different countries, cities and communities around the world – including the �鶹ӰԺ community –  have been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. As �鶹ӰԺ State’s population of Hispanic and Latino students continues to grow each year, students, faculty, organizations and departments are taking the time to acknowledge the month through a series of discussion, events, dancing and even theatrical plays.

As we approach the 2020 presidential election, college campuses have become charged with energy from the differences throughout the student body. Channel 5 News asked �鶹ӰԺ State College Republicans, “what’s it like being a Republican on a college campus right now?”

The School of Theatre and Dance’s Design, Technology and Production program has been selected by On Stage Blog as one of the top 30 programs for the 2019-2020 academic year.

�鶹ӰԺ’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music and Tuesday Musical, based in Akron, have launched a new series that will bring world-renowned classical musicians to the �鶹ӰԺ Campus to work with students.

�鶹ӰԺ alumnus Andre Knott’s experience in journalism ranges from sideline reporting for the Cleveland Browns to telecasts for the Cleveland Indians on SportsTime Ohio to covering Cleveland sports on the radio. Now, he joins WJW FOX 8 as a new contributor to the station’s sports team. He will provide reports, features and live coverage of Cleveland sports on all FOX 8 platforms while he continues his Cleveland Indians broadcast work at SportsTime Ohio. 

�鶹ӰԺ field hockey coach Kyle DeSandes-Moyer is pleased to announce the signing of 10-year-old Mary Alice Tryda through Team IMPACT to the �鶹ӰԺ State field hockey team.

�鶹ӰԺ State Graduate Taylor Pendrith, ‘14, earned the Canada Life Candian Player of the Year honors on the Mackenzie Tour -- PGA TOUR Canada on Sunday, Sept. 15. This is Pendrith’s second time receiving the honor in the past four years.

More than 20,000 people applied to be part of �鶹ӰԺ State’s Class of 2023, and 4,270 can now consider themselves to be Golden Flashes.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the �鶹ӰԺ fight song blared down Main Street, the city of �鶹ӰԺ was flooded with blue and gold, alumni and friends gathered and reminisced about their �鶹ӰԺ State days, fans packed the stadium to cheer on their beloved Golden Flashes and the entire campus boomed with �鶹ӰԺ State pride.
