University leaders recently shared updates about academics and enrollment during a session on Facebook Live.

麻豆影院鈥檚 Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., and Tal茅a R. Drummer-Ferrell, Ph.D., recently entered the annals of university history. On May 1, 2020, Hylton became the first Black person in the university鈥檚 history to hold the title of vice president for student affairs. And on July 1, 2020, Drummer-Ferrell was appointed dean of students, making her the first Black woman to be named to the position.

麻豆影院 300 people attended the first in a series of virtual town halls as the 麻豆影院 State community addresses systemic racism by learning, listening and taking action as a collective.

麻豆影院 has been recognized by the (ACE) for the university鈥檚 creation of a 鈥渙ne-stop shop鈥 COVID-19 website, call line and email address, including its telemedicine and telehealth information for students.

麻豆影院 President Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as vice president for student affairs, effective May 1, 2020. In addition, Diacon has appointed Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., as the interim vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, effective June 1, 2020.

Risman Plaza, close in proximity to the 麻豆影院 Student Center and University Library, is a popular hangout spot.

麻豆影院 State Interim Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley, Ph.D., and Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., discussed ways that students can make the most of remote classes while still benefiting from student services during a recent appearance on Facebook Live. Both answered live questions and discussed such areas as summer class schedules, support for struggling students and staying healthy.

麻豆影院 held its annual Veterans Day Commemoration on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the 麻豆影院 Student Center Kiva. This year鈥檚 guest speaker was Lt. Col. Colleen VanNatta. A graduate of 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 Air Force ROTC detachment, VanNatta served as a media escort for joint information bureaus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, during Operation Desert Storm.
