Traumatic injuries are the third leading cause of death nationally and the first in Americans age 44 and younger, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Level I trauma rooms are intended to stabilize and save the lives of patients with the most severe traumatic injuries. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $2.47 million grant to Sara Bayramzadeh, a �鶹ӰԺ researcher, to help create trauma rooms that support staff in saving patients’ lives.

�鶹ӰԺ’s architecture and interior design graduates build such impressive skills during their studies in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design that in a national survey, hiring professionals rank them among the most-hired.

John and Fonda Elliot have become the largest donors in �鶹ӰԺ’s history, providing the largest total outright gift of $10 million as well as a $2 million planned gift, benefiting the College of Architecture and Environmental Design.

Together, with the help of LaunchNET �鶹ӰԺ State, the three created Case.MD. Ariella Yager, entrepreneur major in �鶹ӰԺ State’s College of Business Administration; Samuel Graska, cell and molecular biology major in �鶹ӰԺ State’s College of Arts and Sciences; and Justin Gleason, graduate student in �鶹ӰԺ State’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design spent more than a year planning, inventing, designing and 3-D printing smartphone cases that contain vital medication.
