Update: Presentation rescheduled for Thursday, April 20. Original tickets dated for April 19 will be honored at the event on April 20. β
Every day is full of βwhat would you do?β moments, believes John Quinones, reporter and anchor/host at ABC News. As host and creator of What Would You Do?, the hidden camera ethical dilemma series, the seven-time Emmy winner has literally become βthe face of doing the right thingβ to millions of fans both on and off camera.
Quinones will be the final presenter of the 26th season of the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State Stark Featured Speakers Series on [rescheduled] Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the campusβs Conference Center. He will present Words of Wisdom ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ Doing the Right Thing, based on what he has seen and learned from the series. Tickets are required for this free event and may be obtained by visiting the ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State Stark Information Desk in Main Hall beginning Monday, March 27 at 8 a.m. A limit of two (2) tickets will be distributed per person while supplies last.
Having filmed more than 500 What Would You Do? scenarios, Quinones takes on almost any form of ethical dilemma. Everything from spousal abuse to the shortcomings of Americaβs foster care system to discrimination and racism. Who sounds the alarm? Who simply looks the other way? He engages the audience with clear-cut descriptions about the type of people who get involved as well as those who donβt. And, very often, the βeveryday heroesβ captured on hidden camera are not the persons one might expect.
βThey [these moments] can be as simple as times when youβre considering whether to bother saying βthank youβ to the taxi driver before getting out of the cab. Or they can be more complicated, such as when youβve witnessed discriminating mistreatment of someone and you have to decide whether to speak up,β he said. βWe've all been there.β
Combining his personal life story, exceptional career, incomparable insights and a powerful presence, Quinones has emerged as one of the most inspiring keynote speakers today. At the podium, he shares his odds-defying journey, celebrating the life-changing power of education, standing as a champion of the Latino American dream and provides thought-provoking insights into human nature and ethical behavior.
A lifetime of βnever taking no for an answerβ propelled Quinones from migrant farm work and poverty to more than 30 years at ABC News as a reporter and at the anchor desk of 20/20 and Primetime.
