Kristen DeBois, Ph.D. ‘20

Kristen DeBois, Ph.D., earned her doctoral degree in public health with a prevention science specialization in 2020 and has since been working as a project coordinator for the KSU College of Nursing and as an adjunct faculty for the College of Public Health. Starting Fall 2022, DeBois became assistant professor of Public Health Studies at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. Her recent research has focused on the mental health and support needs of adolescents with a parent in hospice and contextual circumstances preceding death by suicide among older adults. Dr. DeBois graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in 2008 and a Master in Public Health in 2011.

Chelsey Kirkland, Ph.D. ‘22

Chelsey Kirkland, Ph.D., is a researcher within Center for Public Health Systems at University of Minnesota, providing technical assistance and evaluation to public health agencies and researching workforce development in Minnesota and across the United States. Prior, she served as an AmeriCorps member and worked at Northeast Ohio Medical University, before becoming a research assistant for Cleveland Clinic Akron General Wellness Center and a teaching assistant within 鶹ӰԺ College of Public Health. Kirkland earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from University of Mount Union, her MPH from NEOMED, and recently graduated with her Ph.D. in public health with a specialization in prevention science from KSU in Summer 2022. She also holds a graduate qualitative research certificate and a community health worker certificate.

Jason Zibart, BSPH ‘18

Jason Zibart currently works as community connected health manager at Benson Hospital, Arizona. Zibart was recently honored with the Exceptional Rural Health Professional Award by the Arizona Rural Health Association,which recognizes “an individual for leadership in bringing health services to rural populations”. Before working as a community connected health manager, he served as a senior care coordinator at TMC One and, previously, as a patient care technician at Tucson Medical Center for eleven years. Over the last few years, Benson has received three platinum awards from the state for the hospital’s dedication to its employees and the community they serve. Zibart graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Public Health from 鶹ӰԺ in 2018.
