Research

We are glad you鈥檙e here!

Thank you for your interest in our research! It is our working relationships with preschools and families like your own that allows for us to advance the research into how children learn and develop.

Typically, our research activities for children involve showing the children familiar and unfamiliar objects and asking them a couple simple questions about the objects. Children usually find the activities to be fun and engaging.

Interested in participating?

Once your child is eligible for one of our studies, we will contact you and work around your schedule to find a time that works for everyone.

Current Studies

Study: How do children learn new words?  In this study we will ask 2- and 3-year-olds to play some word games to help us understand how they learn words and make judgments about their own vocabulary. In this 15-20 minute video call children will watch as cartoon animals say words or perform actions.  They will then make judgments about the meanings of words, some of which may have been spoken by the animals. The tester will encourage and praise the child throughout the session. The child鈥檚 parent or guardian will sit next to the child the entire time. For participating in the study, the parent or guardian will receive a $10 Amazon gift card.
