Access to facilities, technology and equipment is an important part of the learning experience at the School of Media and Journalism (MDJ). Please choose the group below that best describes you to learn more about access to MDJ facilities and technology in Franklin Hall, as well as equipment rental options through MDJ’s Student Resource Lab (SRL).
Select classrooms in Franklin Hall are available for MDJ students to reserve for the purposes of filming and other class-related use. All room reservations require seven (7) days’ notice for completion. Reservations with less than seven (7) days’ notice may not be approved. Students interested in reserving a room can request an available space through .
Select classrooms are available in Franklin Hall for Â鶹ӰԺ student organizations to use for meetings and student events. All room reservations require a minimum of two (2) weeks before the program date to be reviewed. Interested student organizations must complete the University Events and Conference Services – Event Registration Form found at the link below:

To reserve an editing suite or photo studio for class assignments, log into with your FlashLine info to start the reservation process. Editing suite and photo studio reservations require one (1) business day notice to reserve.
To reserve the TV studio for class assignments, and the SRL manager will advise you once the reservation has been approved. TV studio reservations require two (2) business days’ notice for reservations.
Students enrolled in specific MDJ classes will have Student Resource Lab (SRL) borrowing privileges connected to work assigned for those classes. Students will learn about SRL access from their instructors. For more information about borrowing equipment from the SRL, please contact the SRL at 330-672-2468 during office hours, or email studentresourcelab@kent.edu.

The DI Hub and maintain some production equipment that may be available for checkout. Please check with those offices for more information.

There are a variety of rooms available for reservation in Franklin Hall. You may select between conference style rooms (116 & 119) or open studio spaces (125 & 331).
The TV studio, photo studio, and editing suites are available for classroom assignment use only.
The auditorium is not available for individual student use.
The editing suites are open Monday through Saturday - 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Student members of official Â鶹ӰԺ State Student Media partners can check out equipment through the SRL under the auspices of their specific organization. Students should check with their media partner’s leadership for further guidance on parameters for access. Student members of the Flash Film Commission (FFC) require written approval from the FFC president to check out equipment.
Non-Student Media organizations do not have access to the SRL.
