Fall Student Employment Reminders
Online Forms: Supervisors should be using DocuSign for the processing of the following forms: Pay Raise Request, Discontinuation of Student Position Form, Pay Rate Exception Request, Offer of Student Employment Form (麻豆影院 and Regional campuses versions). The forms are accessible through the in the .
Posting Student Positions: Many new and returning students are currently seeking an on-campus position. As a reminder, all departments are required to post their open positions through Career Exploration and Development via (online posting system) to ensure equal access under Federal law. Departments should also direct all of their candidates to apply through Flash @ Work to further comply with equal employment opportunity standards.
Supervisors seeking to post for the first time should request access by emailing Career Exploration and Development at campusworks@kent.edu prior to creating an account.
Employment Paperwork Hours: Students may complete their employment paperwork with acceptable identification Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Student Employment is located temporarily in Room 104, Schwartz Center until mid-October.
Position Descriptions: All departments should keep a current description for each position on file. Share the position description with student employees in the position posting, during the interview and/or orientation, and use it to guide the performance evaluation process. The On-Campus Student Employment Position Information Form located in the illustrates the necessary components of a detailed position description.
Student Work Schedules: As you establish your student's availability to work during the upcoming semester, please keep in mind that students are not permitted to work during scheduled class times. We recommend that you are always aware of a student's current class schedule to ensure the work schedule does not conflict with classes. If a class is cancelled, dismissed early, etc., the student may work, but you should document the irregularity in the schedule.

Annual Sick Leave Conversion Period Is Here!
The annual sick leave conversion for eligible staff employees will take place Sept. 1 through Sept. 14 . During this period, eligible classified and unclassified employees with a continuing appointment may convert accrued sick leave to vacation per .
Eligible full-time employees who have a balance of at least 500 hours of sick leave may convert:
- A maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation; or
- A combined maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation and personal leave.
Eligible part-time employees who have a balance of at least 250 hours of sick leave may convert:
- A maximum of three days (24 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation; or
- A combined maximum of three days (24 hours) per fiscal year of vacation and personal leave.
Eligible classified employees represented by AFSCME who have a balance of at least 500 hours of sick leave may convert a maximum of five days (40 hours) per fiscal year of sick leave to vacation.
The conversion process will be done online through . The system will tell you how much sick and vacation leave you currently have and how much you are eligible to convert. With the electronic process, employees will receive a confirmation email and will see the conversion reflected immediately in their leave balances.
