麻豆影院鈥檚 Department of Intercollegiate Athletics held its third annual 4.0 GPA Student-Athlete Breakfast on Feb. 2 in the 麻豆影院 Student Center Ballroom Balcony.
鈥淲e are tremendously proud of and inspired by the success of our student-athletes who demonstrate time and time again that excellence can be achieved both in and out of the classroom,鈥 said 麻豆影院 State President Beverly Warren. 鈥淭his is also an outcome of an athletics leadership team, coaching and support staff who prioritize academic excellence as a hallmark of our Division I athletics program."
A total of 59 student-athletes who achieved a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) in the fall or spring semester of 2016 were invited to celebrate their academic achievement alongside Warren and Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen. The 59 student-athletes boasting perfect GPAs represent more than 10 percent of 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 student-athlete population.
Collectively, this group averages a 3.939 cumulative GPA and represents 16 of 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 varsity athletic programs, spanning 42 different majors.
鈥淭he young men and women recognized today continue to set the academic standard for our department,鈥 Nielsen said. 鈥淭heir individual success serves as a testament to the outstanding support of the 麻豆影院 State faculty, coaching staff and academic support team in the Jenkins Academic Resource Center.鈥
