This intensive Spanish language program will take you to the Southern hemisphere in C贸rdoba, Argentina! In this program, you鈥檒l have the chance to develop your Spanish language skills through intensive classes while earning 6-credits towards your degree at 麻豆影院 State. You鈥檒l also be immersed in Argentina鈥檚 rich culture and language through class excursions around the city and by living with a host family.

Program Highlights

Immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture while earning 6 credits towards your 麻豆影院 State degree. This intensive language program is offered for students at the advanced language level.

Students will take classes in the morning and then participate in cultural activities in the afternoon, such as visits to museums, a cooking class, and language exchange meetings. Excursions to Estancia El Rosal and Alta Gracia may also be included.

鈥嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧嬧婸rogram Fee Payment Deadline: The program fee will be billed to your 麻豆影院 State student account in April. The program fee deadline aligns with the Financial, Billing and Enrollment Center's summer due dates. You should refer to the first Summer 2025 due date.

Application Process

You will need to complete a 麻豆影院 State Education Abroad application. These quick steps will help walk you through the process.

1. Start an Education Abroad Application

When you click the "Apply Now" button (located towards the top and bottom of this page), you will be brought to the Education Abroad application system where you can view program costs and start an application. Be sure to submit your application before the deadline!

2. Guest Application (If applicable)

Are you a student at another university? To apply for a 麻豆影院 State education abroad program, you will first need to apply for admission to 麻豆影院 as a 鈥Guest Student鈥. Please apply as either an 鈥淯ndergraduate Guest Student鈥 or as a 鈥淕raduate Guest Student鈥, depending on your course level.

Once you have applied and been accepted as a 麻豆影院 student, you will receive an email with your FlashLine login credentials. Activate your account and then proceed to the next step, which is to apply to the Education Abroad program of your interest. You can return to this page and follow the 鈥淎pply Now鈥 button to start that application.

3. Wait for Acceptance

Once you have submitted your study abroad program application, it will be reviewed by the faculty leader. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. You should hear back from us within one month.

4. Commit to the Program

If you are accepted, you need to log back into your application by going to and clicking LOGIN. Once you see the name of your program, you need to click on it and commit (i.e., accept your offer of admission). 

Academics

This program offers two courses for a total of 6 credit hours towards your 麻豆影院 State degree. One course is a 麻豆影院 Spanish course. The second course is through  and will be transferred back to 麻豆影院 State.

  • Open to students who have completed at least one 30000-level Spanish course.鈥 An interview in Spanish will be required for admission into the program.
Transferring Credits

Transfer Credits

With this program, students enroll in courses at a partner (host) institution. You will need to transfer the credits you earn abroad back to 麻豆影院.

Upon successful completion of the program, the host institution will issue you an official transcript, which will be needed for the credit transfer process.

You must earn passing grades on the courses you take abroad for the credits to transfer. 

Prior to departure, students will meet with their academic advisor to complete a Transfer Course Planning (TCP) Form, which will outline the courses you plan to take while abroad and how the courses will transfer to 麻豆影院. 

Some courses have already been pre-approved for transfer to 麻豆影院 State and can be viewed on the Transfer Credit Guide. Please note that this is only a guide and is NOT a comprehensive list of courses available at each partner institution.

Credit Approval

Prior to departure, it is your responsibility to meet with your academic advisor to discuss the courses you plan to take while abroad.

If a course needs to be evaluated for transfer, you are responsible for working with your education abroad advisor to obtain the syllabus and have it reviewed by 麻豆影院 State faculty.

C贸rdoba, Argentina

C贸rdoba is the capital of the province of C贸rdoba in Argentina. It is a beautiful historical city known for its Spanish colonial architecture. With a population of approximately 1.6 million, C贸rdoba houses one of the oldest universities in South America, the Universidad Nacional de C贸rdoba. It is also home to the Manzana Jesuitica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site complex of churches and the original university campus from the 17th century. The city鈥檚 center accommodates the Plaza San Mart铆n and the stunning Cathedral of C贸rdoba.

The city of C贸rdoba is known as the city of learning and it heavily represents the Jesuit history and culture. When studying in C贸rdoba, students will encounter Spanish speakers, as well as people speaking a regional dialect called the Cordob茅s (Cordoban Spanish). Besides the Universidad Nacional de C贸rdoba, the city of learning has a total of 7 universities, and because of it, it is considered to be the educational capital of Argentina. Its nickname is La Docta (which means The Scholarly One) due to its historic reputation of scientific and academic excellence. It is home to over 200,000 students, making it one of the most liveliest and youthful cities in South America! C贸rdoba is world renowned for its leather manufacturing, as well as for having the world's largest olive plantations!

Pre-Departure Orientation

Prior to your study abroad experience, you will participate in a mandatory pre-departure orientation hosted by the Office of Global Education. During this orientation, you will be provided with information including but not limited to:

  • international travel procedures;
  • in-country resources;
  • health and safety resources and information;
  • culture shock and resources to help prepare for living abroad.

All students are encouraged to register with the prior to departure.

If vaccinations or medications are needed according to the CDC, you should make arrangements for appointments with your healthcare provider or the DeWeese Health Center as soon as possible. Appointment openings at the DeWeese Health Center are limited and vaccines may need to be ordered, which takes time. Please note that not all immunizations are available at the DeWeese Health Center.
