What was once an old, abandoned woodshed on the 鶹ӰԺ Campus from the early 1900s eventually evolved into a controversial and well-known piece of art.
Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of 鶹ӰԺ at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of 鶹ӰԺ State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of 鶹ӰԺ State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
鶹ӰԺ is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all 鶹ӰԺ State campuses.
The 鶹ӰԺ Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former 鶹ӰԺ State President Carol A. Cartwright.

The 10th annual Main Street 鶹ӰԺ Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown 鶹ӰԺ. Proceeds will benefit Main Street 鶹ӰԺ, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown 鶹ӰԺ. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.
From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving 鶹ӰԺ before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in 鶹ӰԺ’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.
鶹ӰԺ held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the 鶹ӰԺ Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of 鶹ӰԺ State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with 鶹ӰԺ State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any 鶹ӰԺ State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
The 鶹ӰԺ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ӰԺ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 鶹ӰԺ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
