Information Services Puts Students First at Start of School Year

The Division of Information Services once again demonstrates its strong students-first services to freshman and transfer students new to Â鶹ӰԺ. Incoming students can ease their transition to the Â鶹ӰԺ Campus by seeking help at TechHelp tents and tables located throughout campus during Welcome Weekend and the first week of classes.

Welcome Weekend Thursday and Friday

Five TechHelp tents will be located near the four main Residence Hall clusters (Eastway, Tri-Towers, Centennial Court, and the Quad) and near the Â鶹ӰԺ Student Center. Information Services and Federated Support staff, along with Tech2You students, will be available at each location between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to assist incoming freshmen and their families with their technology and general Â鶹ӰԺ State questions. Additionally, Tech2You students will be available from 4 to 8 p.m.Amanda Kelley, senior applications support analyst, Infrastructure Operations, helps a student resolve a technology issue.

Welcome Weekend Thursday

A TechHelp table will be set up on the first floor of the Â鶹ӰԺ Student Center to assist students who are experiencing password issues.

Welcome Weekend Friday

The TechHelp table will move to the second floor just outside of the Ballroom to help commuter students with technology issues.

Start of Classes Monday and Tuesday

The TechHelp tents will move to prominent thoroughfares to assist students with their technology needs and to assist them as they learn to navigate the Â鶹ӰԺ Campus. Tents will be staffed from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

New This Year

The TechHelp Taxi, a six-passenger golf cart, will be motoring the Â鶹ӰԺ Campus helping students navigate their way to Welcome Weekend events and to their first classes of the new school year. During their ride, students will hear about free Microsoft Office, access to Lynda.com video tutorials and the various support services offered through TechHelp. The TechHelp Taxi will run from Thursday, Aug. 24, through Thursday, Aug. 31, excluding the weekend.

Students also will find Information Services staff handing out swag at Late Night at the Library, Friday, Aug. 25, and at Blast-Off! Sunday evening, Aug. 27. If you would like to know more about Information Services’ back-to-school activities, please contact James Raber, interim executive director, Educational Technology and Service Management, at jaraber@kent.edu.
