Fellowship to focus on open textbooks and affordable education

Â鶹ӰԺ’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Student Center received a $5,000 grant from the Gay Community Endowment fund, organized through the Akron Community Foundation, to create a mentor program for LGBTQ and ally students at Â鶹ӰԺ State.

Ken Ditlevson, director of the LGBTQ Student Center, says this is the first grant for the center.

Â鶹ӰԺ’s third annual Game Day Challenge has helped increase recycling efforts.

The Game Day Challenge is a yearly event hosted by 64 colleges and universities across the nation. The main goal is to increase awareness about recycling.

Â鶹ӰԺ State has increased recycling per person each year since its first time in the Game Day Challenge in 2013.

WKSU has launched a to respond to the general increase in online viewing from mobile devices. is now responsive, allowing the layout to instantly adapt to screen sizes ranging from desktop and laptop to smartphone and tablet.

The Oak Ridge Boys are bringing their Celebration Tour to Â鶹ӰԺ State Tuscarawas for two shows at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on March 5. This will be their third engagement at the Performing Arts Center. 

Â鶹ӰԺ has earned its eighth consecutive recognition from Tree Campus USA, a national program created in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.

Â鶹ӰԺ’s Aeronautics Program has received a Â鶹ӰԺ State-branded Cessna^® Skyhawk^® 172 aircraft, which it named Nikki to honor an aeronautics student who died from leukemia.

Â鶹ӰԺ faculty, staff and students are invited to join Â鶹ӰԺ State President Beverly Warren on Monday, Feb. 22, from 3-4 p.m. for an interactive Town Hall at the Â鶹ӰԺ Student Center Ballroom Balcony. Regional locations will communicate host information to their campus communities.
