Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of Â鶹ӰԺ at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of Â鶹ӰԺ State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of Â鶹ӰԺ State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
Â鶹ӰԺ is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all Â鶹ӰԺ State campuses.
The Â鶹ӰԺ Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The 10th annual Main Street Â鶹ӰԺ Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Â鶹ӰԺ. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Â鶹ӰԺ, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Â鶹ӰԺ. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in Â鶹ӰԺ’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.
Â鶹ӰԺ held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Â鶹ӰԺ Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of Â鶹ӰԺ State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with Â鶹ӰԺ State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any Â鶹ӰԺ State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
The Â鶹ӰԺ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed Â鶹ӰԺ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Â鶹ӰԺ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
