Christine Hudak, Ph.D., School of Library and Information Science, has been accepted as a contributing author to the book (tentatively) titled The Handbook of Continuing Professional Development for the Health IT Professional, to be published by HIMSS in 2017. Her chapter, “The Many Facets of Continuing Education,” will appear in the section on “The Importance of Lifelong Learning.”

Linda Robertson, Ph.D., director of 鶹ӰԺ’s Gerald Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, has been named recipient of the university’s 2016 Dr. Daniel Mahony Award for Social Responsibility and Diversity.
Ten finalists have been chosen from a pool of more than 325 nominees for the 50th Annual 鶹ӰԺ Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award. The finalists will be narrowed down to three, and those recipients will be awarded a $1,500 cash prize and a crystal apple trophy. The three award recipients also will be honored at the University Teaching Council’s Celebrating College Teaching conference luncheon and awards ceremony on Oct. 21.

Jennifer Kramer, College of Communication and Information, has been named a recipient of the “30 for the Future” award by the Greater Akron Chamber. The award honors young professionals, between ages 25-39, for their stellar contributions that impact their industries in the Greater Akron region.

The 鶹ӰԺ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 鶹ӰԺ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 鶹ӰԺ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
