Call for Abstracts - Undergraduate Symposium on Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity

As we know, involvement in undergraduate research is often a significant milestone in a student's professional and personal development, and greatly enhances their overall college experience.

A call for abstracts is currently underway for students who want to participate in the fourth annual Undergraduate Symposium on Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity. Abstracts will be accepted through Feb. 1, 2017. Faculty members who engage students in research, either independently or through course-based projects, should encourage students to participate in the symposium.

The 2017 symposium will be held on March 21 in the Â鶹ӰԺ Student Center. Students from all majors on all Â鶹ӰԺ State campuses are encouraged to submit their work – from creative dance pieces to scientific research. Students can present their work through posters, roundtable discussions, oral presentations or any creative medium.

Students who take part in the Undergraduate Symposium can:

  • Compete for cash awards
  • Develop research and presentation skills
  • Prepare for graduate school or professional opportunities
  • Share the topic they explored with the Â鶹ӰԺ State community

The Â鶹ӰԺ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed Â鶹ӰԺ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Â鶹ӰԺ State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
