Kerri Lochmueller, Associate Lecturer, Mathematics, Ashtabula Campus
Kerri is being recognized for her use of playful pedagogy and belonging skills to support the students in her classroom. Kerri teaches math, specifically the introductory courses where students struggle most. Kerri incorporates the use of props, games and teamwork which encourages the development of interpersonal relationships among her students. Kerri brings teaching approaches learned through her years of teaching and participation in the Belonging Champions program and has developed the nickname 鈥淣ot Scary Kerri鈥 when it comes to engaging with her math students.
Martha Merrill, Ph.D., School of Foundations, Leadership and Administration, 麻豆影院 Campus
Dr. Merrill designs exceptional, thought-provoking classroom experiences. Students in Martha鈥檚 classes are challenged to think about the world beyond 麻豆影院 State. Her in-class assignments are a model for those looking for complex and engaging ways to get students to synthesize and apply what they learn.
Martha also goes above and beyond to support her students鈥攑articularly those joining 麻豆影院 State from Central Asia. Martha sources furniture for their apartments, drives them to appointments, helps them navigate their new community, and supports their sense of belonging at 麻豆影院 State.
