Registering A New Student Organization

Registration Requirements
- The FlashLine ID (email) and contact information of a minimum of three (3) officers that meet the following requirements:
- Students must be enrolled and regularly attend at least three hours of Â鶹ӰԺ coursework. This includes Â鶹ӰԺ campus and/or regional campuses.
- Student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.25.
- The FlashLine ID (email) of your advisor who must meet the following requirement:
- Individual must be a full-time or part-time permanent university employee, or military personnel working with Â鶹ӰԺ ROTC programs. Campus Ministers (a registered member of Campus Religious Life Association [CRLA] are restricted to advising their affiliated organizations.)
- Please review further details on advisor responsibilities using the following resource.
- Your organization’s constitution in Word or PDF format ready to be uploaded to the site. Sample Constitution
- A .jpg or .png file that your organization will use as a logo. This will be displayed as a small icon next to your organization on the search list.
- A short summary of your organization to be displayed in the organization directory. This can be taken from your mission/purpose statement.
- A description of your organization to be displayed on your organization’s page. This can also be taken from your mission/purpose statement.
- Be ready to select which category you would like your organization to be placed within. The categories are as follows: academic/professional, civic/political, cultural, educational, social fraternity and sorority, graduate, honorary, media, military, religious, service, special interest, sports and recreation, student government.
- You will also be able to enter keywords representing the interest of your organization.
- If applicable, bring your external website and social media handles.
- Please note that groups only need to submit registration once per academic year.
- To participate in any student organization, a student must complete the University's required and State of Ohio mandated Anti-Hazing Training module "Hazing 101" one time throughout their time at Â鶹ӰԺ.
- Student organizations will not be approved by the Center for Student Involvement for registration if there are members listed in rosters that have not completed this required training. In this case, student organizations would not have access to funding or the ability to reserve campus spaces for meetings, events, or functions.

- Within KSU Engage log in to the with your Flashline credentials.
- Complete your profile as a new user of the KSU Engage platform.
- Click on the Hamburger menu in the upper left corner and select Organizations and then click ‘register an organization.’
- Click register a new organization.
- Follow the steps to complete the registration process and submit.
- Once you have submitted your registration, it will be sent to a staff member in the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) for review. You will receive email notification within two (2) weeks of your organization’s status assuming your organizations is in full compliance with the hazing training requirement. If there are any discrepancies or issues with your organization’s submission CSI will contact you for further clarification.

All students and student organizations are responsible for sound fiscal management, observing federal, state and local laws and Â鶹ӰԺ State policies, as well as meeting minimum academic requirements. Sample Constitution
A Sample Constitution is provided as a guide to developing constitutions for student organizations at Â鶹ӰԺ. Organizers of new groups are encouraged to adapt this style to the unique needs and purposes of their organizations. All points covered in this sample should be included in the new constitution. Submit the new constitution with all registration materials to the Center for Student Involvement for review and approval.
Once approved, the Center for Student Involvement will notify the group of their status as a registered student organization.

- Graduate Assistants cannot serve as an advisor. They are free to assist a student organization, but they cannot be the designated advisor to fulfill this requirement

- If a student organization has an outstanding bill through University Events and Conference Services (UECS), registration will not be approved until the balance(s) is resolved. Bills can be paid online through the Bursar’s Office. If you have any questions, please reach out to UECS at uecs@kent.edu and/or 330-672-3202.

- Click the blue button that says, ‘re-register this organization.’
*Note: if you do not see your organization, you may not be listed as the primary contact for your organization. Please contact the Center for Student Involvement at csi@kent.edu or 330.672.2480. Follow the steps to complete the re-registration process and submit.
6. Once you have submitted your registration, it will be sent to a staff member in the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) for review.
