Three communication professionals honored at the Centennial Award Celebration

Centennial Award Celebration Held Oct. 2

The ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ School of Communication Studies honored three outstanding individuals Friday, Oct. 2, for their commitment and contribution to the field of communication. The evening consisted of a reception and award recognition. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and guests attended the reception as part of ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State’s Homecoming 2015.

Anthony Limperos, ’04, M.A. ’06, was the first to be honored. Limperos received The Outstanding Young Professional Award which honors a graduate from the School of Communication Studies with five to 15 years of professional experience who has demonstrated success in his or her chosen career. Limperos is now in his fifth year teaching as a professor at the University of ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊucky. 

β€œThis is a tremendous honor to be here tonight and receive an award from a place that means so much to me," Limperos said. 

Limperos was accompanied by his parents.

Robin Clair, Ph.D β€˜90, the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award sent her special thanks which was read by interim director Jeffery Child. This award honors a graduate from the School of Communication Studies with more than 15 years of professional experience who has made significant contributions to the field of communication and demonstrated success in his or her chosen career.

The highest honor given by the School of Communication Studies, The Centennial Award, was given to Dr. Jerry Feezel. This award honors an individual associated with the school who is nationally or internationally recognized for contributions to his or her profession that relates to the field of communication.  

Feezel accredited all his success to his supporters β€œhere and away.”

The event provided an opportunity to recognize the great accomplishments of individuals connected to the school.

β€œWe are honored to have great alumni and professionals to celebrate, they make us very proud,” Child said.

The School of Communication Studies is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Centennial Award Celebration. All nominations can be submitted on the communication studies website by Dec. 31. Self-nominations are accepted.
