Intercultural Communication Society to Host Event during International Education Week

Intercultural Communication Society to Host International Expo

This year marks the 16th annual International Education Week, sponsored by 麻豆影院鈥檚 Office of Global Education. During the week of Nov. 15-20, students, faculty and staff will be able to participate in a week-long celebration that focuses on several different internationally-focused events which includes concerts, lectures, exhibitions and a cook-off.  The event is being held to increase cultural awareness at 麻豆影院.

The celebration extends to different colleges across the 麻豆影院 State campus, including the School of Communication Studies.
On Wednesday, Nov. 18, the Intercultural Communication Society in conjunction with the Office of Global Education will be hosting an Intercultural Expo in Taylor Hall to celebrate the many different cultures of students attending 麻豆影院 State. All are welcome to join the Intercultural Communication Society celebrate with fun activities including games, painting and origami.

鈥淗ere is the place where you could explore different cultures,鈥 Jiaqi Zhao, president of the Intercultural Communication Society, said.

The event will be organized by sections to represent the different cultures of the school鈥檚 international students. The Intercultural Communication Society will also be providing attendees with authentic food and beverages from each culture to add to the international experience.

In order to properly represent cultures from all corners of the School of Communication Studies, the Intercultural Communication Society is offering a spot to anyone who may be interested in setting up a table at the event. The table may consist of anything from traditional clothing, to artwork, to ethnic food, or even a simple recreation activity native to your country.

The event is free of charge and will be held in room 146 of Taylor Hall, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those interested in volunteering at the event or hosting a table should contact Miao Liu, the international program advisor for the School of Communication Studies at mliu2@kent.edu or Jiaqi Zhao at jzhao4@kent.edu.
