Â鶹ӰԺ State Celebrates Newest Graduates

The Â鶹ӰԺ alumni family grew by nearly 5,200 new graduates as the university held its 2024 Spring Commencement ceremonies.

During a number of ceremonies, 5,182 degrees were conferred, consisting of 1,011 associate degrees, 3,092 bachelor’s degrees, 903 master’s degrees, 164 doctoral degrees and 12 educational specialist degrees.

During the commencement ceremonies, graduating students heard from Â鶹ӰԺ State President Todd Diacon and Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley. Graduating students also received individual name recognition and participated in the conferral of degrees and tassel turning ceremony.

The Class of 2024 enjoyed a new tradition at the conclusion of the ceremonies to celebrate their accomplishments - ringing the Starner Victory Bell. The original Victory Bell at Â鶹ӰԺ State, erected in the 1950s with the help of Alpha Phi Omega, symbolized campus pride and unity. Later, a mobile version called Victory Bell II was created. After years of dormancy, Â鶹ӰԺ State alumni Buzz, ’67, and Marilyn, ’71, Starner revived the tradition, dedicating a new bell in 2011, which is known as the Starner Bell in their honor. It's rung after athletic wins and at graduation, signifying academic victory.

Hear from the Class of 2024 about where they are headed next:
