KENT – On Feb. 28, March 7, 14 and 21, Â鶹ӰԺ will hold a free electronics recycling drop-off called E-Cycle Drive. Â鶹ӰԺ State also will hold a free document shredding March 21 called Shred-Mania. Both events are open to students, faculty, staff and the Â鶹ӰԺ community.
Shred-Mania will be open March 21 from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Â鶹ӰԺ State R-17 parking lot behind Starbucks between South Willow Street and South Lincoln Street. Shred-Mania allows participants to recycle unwanted paper documents using a secured, on-site document destruction service. Materials permitted at Shred-Mania include documents, drawings, photos, blueprints, coupons, tickets, checks, magazines, spiral notebooks, hanging folders, paper bags and brochures. It is not necessary to remove paper/binding clips or staples from your documents in order to have them shredded. There is a limit of five boxes per person for Â鶹ӰԺ community members. University material should be kept separate from personal material for tracking purposes.
E-Cycle Drive will be open Feb. 28 and March 7, 14 and 21 from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Â鶹ӰԺ State R-17 parking lot behind Starbucks between South Willow Street and South Lincoln Street. E-Cycle Drive allows participants to recycle unwanted electronics using RET3, Â鶹ӰԺ State’s Responsible Recycling (R2) certified electronics recycling vendor. Materials permitted at E-Cycle Drive include just about anything with a cord: personal computers, laptop computers, servers and storage devices, CRT and LCD monitors, docking stations, floppy drives, DVD/CD burners, VCRs, circuit boards, scanners, copiers, printers, cables, wires, extension cords, network and telecommunications equipment, digital cameras, cellular phones and DVD players. Televisions and kitchen appliances are not accepted at E-Cycle Drive.
Both the electronics recycling and university paper shredding contributes to Â鶹ӰԺ State’s standings in RecycleMania and are hosted by Â鶹ӰԺ State’s Division of Human Resources, University Facilities Management and the Office of Sustainability. This is the ninth year Â鶹ӰԺ State is competing in RecycleManiaRecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste-reduction activities to their campus communities. More than 200 colleges and universities are competing in RecycleMania 2018. Everyone at Â鶹ӰԺ State is a participant in RecycleMania, an eight-week competition to promote waste reduction activities on campus. During RecycleMania, Feb. 4 through March 31, there are bimonthly competitions for students, faculty and staff to win raffle prize drawings. Students participate in RecycleMania through the Hall vs. Hall competition and bimonthly competitions.
