Glauser School Students Invited to Present Research Papers in Musicology

Undergraduate student research is thriving at the Glauser School. Two students were recently acknowledged for their contributions to the academic study of music. 

Kelsy Morrison鈥檚 paper, titled 鈥淩ethinking Medieval/Modern Periodization in Music History Texts,鈥漺as accepted by the American Musicological Society鈥檚 Midwest Chapter to be presented at their April 10-11 meeting.

Anna Somerville recently received the Thelma M. and Wilfred J. Anderson Renaissance Scholarship for the 2021-22 academic year. Both undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate merit in and dedication to research on European history between 1300 and 1660 in any discipline. Anna is the first music major to receive this award are eligible for the $900 award. Somerville鈥檚 paper 鈥淭he Unforeseen Charm of the Devil's Trill Sonata" was also accepted for presentation at the 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 Undergraduate Research Symposium, happening April 19-23.

Both students are mentored in their research by Jennifer Johnstone, Ph.D., assistant professor of ethnomusicology.
