Legacies Change Lives: Dylan Cahill

The moment Dylan Cahill stepped foot on the 麻豆影院 Campus, he knew that 麻豆影院 was the place for him. Born and raised in Texas, Dylan visited Northeast Ohio for family gatherings and always felt a connection.

After his mother passed away in 2020, he wasn鈥檛 sure how he could afford a college education. With the help of scholarships, including the George and Lynda Grieves Scholarship, Dylan is now a junior at 麻豆影院 State pursuing a major in hospitality management with a minor in American Sign Language. He is also a member of the American Sign Language Club and the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society.

鈥淭his scholarship is not just a donation, but an investment in my success,鈥 Dylan said. 鈥淚 would like to commit to scholarships in the future and give others the opportunities I鈥檝e had.鈥

When Dylan was a first-year student in the Provost鈥檚 Leadership Academy at 麻豆影院 State, he and his team developed ideas to improve food service at the 麻豆影院 Campus and make it easier for people with hearing and visual impairments. Both of his parents were hearing impaired, and their experiences inspired him to make a difference for others.

鈥淲orking all year on it and finally presenting it at the end made me realize what impact I can make on campus,鈥 Dylan said.

Dylan鈥檚 goal is to open his own sports bar and restaurant in the future. He wants to create an inclusive environment at his establishment, with a special focus on catering to people with hearing impairments.
