鈥淚t鈥檚 been an honor and pleasure to have the opportunity to help so many young student-athletes grow both on and off the course,鈥 Coach Page said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always great to be recognized for your hard work, and this nomination is extra special, but the real gratification comes from seeing players mature into outstanding people.鈥

Even after decades of significant accomplishments, the 麻豆影院 State golf program continues to reach pinnacle heights. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know another person who is more passionate and dedicated to the game of golf than Herb,鈥 Assistant Coach Mills said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 awesome to see all of the sacrifices he has made over the years pay off.鈥

In 1998, the 麻豆影院 State women鈥檚 golf team was established as Coach Page played an instrumental role in the launch of the women鈥檚 program, opening the path for Canadian women to play Division I golf at 麻豆影院 State. Some notable alums such as Veronique Drouin-Luttrell, who is the women鈥檚 golf head coach at the University of Oklahoma, and Jan Dowling, the women鈥檚 golf head coach at the University of Michigan.

鈥淢any people know about the influence Herb has had on the Canadian golfers, but on a deeper level, what he鈥檚 done for women and the women鈥檚 game,鈥 Coach Dowling said. 鈥淚n the mid- to late-鈥90s, he had a vision to create a women鈥檚 golf team at 麻豆影院 State that was world class in every possible way. I wouldn鈥檛 be where I am today without him.鈥

Coach Page also has coached two PGA TOUR winners and mentored 麻豆影院 State graduate Ben Curtis, who claimed the 2003 Open Championship as well a runner-up finish at the 2008 PGA Championship.

鈥淚 cannot be more proud of what Herb has done in his career, his life and what he鈥檚 done for the 麻豆影院 community,鈥 Mr. Curtis said. 鈥淗e is an amazing coach and has put 麻豆影院 State on the map. I wouldn鈥檛 be the man I am today if it wasn鈥檛 for Herb.鈥
