Danielle Jones HeadshotMeet Danielle Jones, a University Fellowship recipient. Danielle is a Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. student majoring in Neurosciences.

Please give a short overview of your research:

I study primate brain evolution and development. My goal is to understand how the human brain has changed throughout our evolutionary history to support our social tendencies, cognitive abilities, and brain health throughout our lifespan.

What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at 麻豆影院 State?

I came to 麻豆影院 State to study with my current advisor, Dr. Mary Ann Raghanti. I found her research fascinating, and after visiting 麻豆影院 and learning about her lab, I was sure it would be the best fit for me.

What do you enjoy most about attending 麻豆影院 State for graduate school?

I enjoy how supportive the faculty and my fellow graduate students are. There is always someone I can turn to for support, be it to bounce ideas off of, collaborate, or get advice.

What are your future goals?

I hope to either become a professor of biological anthropology at a primarily undergraduate institution or take on a role that allows me to engage with children and the public through science.

What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?

This award is a huge honor. It means so much to be recognized for the work I've done here. Having the spring 2023 semester free to wrap-up my dissertation and submit my work to journals will be immensely helpful.
