Meet Chuyi Zhang, a University Fellowship recipient. Chuyi is a Modern & Classical Language Studies Ph.D. student majoring in Translation Studies.
Please give a short overview of your research.
My research focuses on auto-image, which refers to the self-representation of a nation or a cultural group. My research examines the construction and circulation of auto-images of China in multimodal texts and their translation through the lens of imagology and adaptation studies.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at 麻豆影院 State?
I chose to study at 麻豆影院 because it has a prestigious doctoral program in translation studies. It also offered me the opportunity to learn from some leading translation studies scholars, including my advisor Dr. Brian James Baer.
What do you enjoy most about attending 麻豆影院 State for graduate school? and/or What do you anticipate taking advantage of at KSU?
I like the friendly and supportive atmosphere in the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies. I also appreciate the opportunity to interact with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
What are your future goals?
My future goal is to find an academic position and continue my research in translation.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
I am very honored to be one of the recipients of this award. It is a recognition of my research and it will help me complete my dissertation.
