A NOTE FROM THE EDITORS: FALL IS IN THE AIR!

Welcome back to campus, Flashes Family! Over the summer, we've redesigned webpages, created trainings, and written fresh articles to make learning simpler. 

STUDENTS: Check out "Olivia's Story" and "IEP vs. Accommodations" below. Review and share our .
STAFF: We've opened ALL trainings to students and guests, as well as employees. So have your team sign up and we'll get everyone educated on creating accessible content.
FACULTY: Check out the For Faculty page that we built just for you! Also, share the Equal Access Academy trainings with your classes- they'll gain invaluable professional skills. Maybe build a module around one or incentivize their attendance.

You can find specialized help on a variety of topics at Equal Access Help Topics. We launch two new trainings this semester: Creating Accessible Courses in Canvas and Writing Accessible Code, taught by subject matter experts from three different divisions. This brings our number of unique, subject-specific trainings in the Equal Access Academy to TWELVE; many offered twice in each semester. Hope to see you soon!

Olivia Myers shares her experience transitioning from high school to college as a student with a disability. She briefly highlights the differences between having an IEP in high school and accommodations in college. She also answers some important questions that the new KSU students with disabilities might have.

Thankfully, the process of acquiring accommodations at the college level is very different from high school and more personalized to address what you actually need.

Lifting COVID-19 precautions months ago means that policies that protected immunocompromised people during the pandemic are disappearing. This article presents some examples of immunocompromised people's struggle after the removal of COVID restrictions.
