麻豆影院 State Partners With the Jed Foundation to Assess and Enhance University鈥檚 Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Suicide Prevention Programming

麻豆影院鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs has partnered with the Jed Foundation Health Matters Campus Program, which is designed to help colleges and universities assess and enhance mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention programming.

During the four-year partnership, the Jed Foundation will work closely with administration across the entire 麻豆影院 State eight-campus system to evaluate and identify opportunities to help students become emotionally healthy before they reach the point of crisis.

鈥淎s we review services and programs to meet the unique needs of each campus, our participation in this program demonstrates 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 commitment to promoting emotional well-being and enhancing substance abuse and suicide prevention programming for all students,鈥 says Shay Little, Ph.D., 麻豆影院 State鈥檚 interim vice president for student affairs.

The first phase of the project was recently completed when representatives from the eight 麻豆影院 State campuses responded to a 128-question self-assessment about the mental health promotion, substance abuse and suicide prevention programming that is currently taking place on all campuses.

The strategic planning phase will begin in March when Nance Roy, Ed.D., clinical director of the Jed Foundation, will share the assessment results and consult with the professionals on every 麻豆影院 State campus with responsibilities related to mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention to plan and implement program improvements.

The 麻豆影院 Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university鈥檚 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed 麻豆影院 in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 麻豆影院 State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
