�鶹ӰԺ Salem Hosts Horticulture Entrepreneurship Seminar

Salem, Ohio – �鶹ӰԺ at Salem hosted a gathering of students and industry experts for a horticulture/entrepreneurship seminar named “What Makes Us Grow.”

Students from �鶹ӰԺ State Salem, Columbiana County Career and Technical Center and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center listened as representatives from local “green” companies discussed all aspects of the business side of the industry.

The discussions included insight into hiring practices, resume writing, seasonal trends, starting a business and the skills and education needed to succeed.

Panel participants included Emily Showalter, director of human resources at Willoway Nurseries in Avon; George Hohman, president of Turfscape Inc. in Cleveland and Akron; Seth DeHoff, owner of DeHoff’s FGL in Alliance; Chris Carlson, associate professor at �鶹ӰԺ Salem; and Richard Lutsch, of Byler, Wolfe, Lutesch & Kampfer CPAs in Salem.

The audience also included members of �鶹ӰԺ State Salem’s horticulture advisory board, who offered the students additional insight into the industry, as well as the campus’s horticulture faculty members.
