John Logue Memorial Employee Ownership Scholarship. Application due: Monday, May 20

We are re-opening the application process for the John Logue Memorial Employee Ownership Scholarship.  An explanation of the scholarship and instructions for applying appear below.  Please note the new deadline for submitting your application: Monday, May 20.

John Logue, Professor of Political Science at 麻豆影院 for over 30 years, was the founding director of the Ohio Employee Ownership Center at KSU. He was deeply committed to promoting economic democracy and saw employee ownership as a means to that end. In his memory, the John Logue Memorial Employee Ownership Scholarship was established.

This scholarship has two interrelated purposes: to memorialize Professor Logue's work in promoting economic democracy through employee ownership, and to make higher education more accessible for KSU undergraduates who share some interests in Professor Logue's work, broadly conceived.

  • The scholarship is for $1500.
  • We make the award in Spring for the following Summer or academic year.
  • The award can support either a summer internship or tuition payments for the coming academic year.  Preference is for the former, but the latter also will be considered.
  • Requirements for the Internship award:
  • The intern and the host organization must commit to a minimum of 100 hours over the course of the summer.

Students must also

  • submit a 1-2 page proposal outlining their internship plans;
  • have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75;
  • be of Junior or Senior standing when the scholarship is used(i.e., you may apply at the end of your sophomore year) ; and
  • submit two letters of reference from KSU sources (generally, faculty).
  1. The intern is also required to submit a 2-3-page report of her/his experiences within two weeks of the internship's conclusion to the chair of the POL Undergraduate Studies Committee.
  2. The on-site supervisor of the internship also submits a brief evaluation of the intern鈥檚 work to the chair of the POL Undergraduate Studies Committee.
  3. The internship award is disseminated in two parts: half the award is distributed at the start of internship and the second half after the final report is submitted

Requirements for the Tuition award:
