Linda Angotti
Biography
Linda Angotti is an Emerita Professor of Music Education and former Coordinator of Music Education, a post she held for more than 10 years. In September 2010, Dr. Angotti was appointed, in a 2-year position, as the first Provost Faculty Associate for the Division of Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Angotti is well known as founding director (1996) of the internationally renowned 麻豆影院 Gospel Choir and for her research on gospel choirs in higher education. Her interests are music teacher education, which includes teaching gospel music in academe, diversity in music curricula, and music perception & cognition.
Her scholarly work is published in Journal of Research Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Music Educators Journal, Contributions to Music Education, General Music Today, and Quarterly Journal of Music Teaching and Learning. Specializing in elementary and secondary general music and multicultural music, Professor Walker has contributed to several books and taught students from kindergarten to graduate school. She travels extensively to present clinics, workshops, and lectures in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Angotti has received recognition as an outstanding faculty member (Graduate Applause Award); Mentors, Mothers, and Muses Award; Distinguished Woman of 麻豆影院 State; Creative Contribution Award, and Phi Beta Delta Honor Society International Education Award. She earned the Ph.D. in music education & music therapy at the University of Kansas, and M.M.E. and B.M.E. degrees at Jackson State University.
